Hi, I am 23 years old and have been gaining on pounds and this is getting to me. The thing is that after several efforts of exercise and dieting, I don’t seem to get any slimmer! There are many ways to lose weight, but I have exhausted all the ways I know. I have consulted a few people but all of them have been telling me the same thing. It isn’t helping me and only making my fears worse.
Is there some way to make me feel better!!!

Mickey,
There are many ways to lose weight. I don't know what you have tried, and I may offer some suggestions that are familiar and some that are not. I will give you my personal experience with weight loss and hopefully it is helpful. I am 24 years old, and weighed 195 pounds. I have an active lifestyle coaching fencing for a college and I run my own club at nights. Needless to say I was getting a decent amount of exercise every day. I found that changing my diet to a higher fiber diet and eating meals 4-5 times a day was good for me. This was done in addition to my regular exercise. I found I was able to lose about 5 pounds like this but then it leveled off and I stayed around 190. Then my parents, kind and loving as parents can be, suggested that I try a body cleanse product they were using. I will take a break here to say yes I do sell this product, but I would only offer it as a recommendation as it is NOT guaranteed to cause weight loss. The product is a cleansing product called Isagenix. The premise of this product is that it feeds your body the proper nutrients which are hard to come by in foods nowadays. It is organic (which has several meanings right now the most important being water soluble) so the nutrients are not simple going in then out without being utilized by the body. Anyway I long story short, I was very skeptical at first. Having just studied for my personal trainer certification, and learning some of the things about nutrition, I was intrigued. I figured I would give it a try and I have gone from 190 pounds down to 181 pounds. The best thing is I still feel good and have good energy throughout my day. I'm sure some people will attempt to criticize me for trying to sell a product, but again I would like to reiterate it isn't a guarantee for weight loss and it is only one method of many to a healthy lifestyle! I hope my own personal story has helped. If you have any questions or would like any other ideas feel free to ask!

For people who are overweight, diet and exercise are the safest way to achieve weight loss. It is fact we put weight slowly and the process to loose is slow too. If you want to lose weight easily, make daily exercise part of your lifestyle. Start aerobic exercise or brisk walk, swimming or anything that helps in heart pumping is good. Have patience, follow this plan, and eat healthy foods that are low in calories and carbohydrates. Use more fresh fruits, vegetables and lots of water. If possible, take warm water with lemon and honey, this drink suppose to burn fats. Hope to see you happy... Thanks.

Hi,
What worked for me was cutting out meat and dairy products - which contain more fat that protein anyway - and not just any fat, but the unhealthy kind.
This is a great thread, hope it keeps going
Cheers

I am new to this forum, but not to trying to lose weight. In the past, one of the main things that held me back was my attitude. I wanted to lose the weight, but I still had the poor pitiful me attitude going on. I truly think I will make it this time, because I am not feeling sorry for myself, rather, I know I need to be a better me.

Hi Deb! I am new to this forum too and along with millions of other people I want to lose weight. I have gained and lost hundreds of pounds in my lifetime and every time I have been successful it has been because I was mentally ready. Any diet can work if you just do it and typically the main thing that gets in our way is our own mind. We are constantly thinking that we are too tired to exercise or too stressed not to eat the chocolate sitting on our desk :-) The main reason any of us should want to lose weight is so that we can be HEALTHY! I think we put too much emphasis on "looking good"! You sound like you are on the right track because loving yourself goes much deeper than how much you weigh. What has worked for me is finding exercises that I love and keep me active and eating anything I want...in moderation!!! When I deny myself of the things I love that is when I start to fail. I try to read lots of books that keep my spirits up and I constantly research natural herbs and vitamins that can help keep me healthy and my stress and hormones nice and even. Best of luck and keep up the great attitude!

Hi Mickey,
You haven't said how overweight you are or any method you have tried to lose it. Some people seem to lose weight in small chunks and it may take a few weeks of dieting before they see a result. Eating regular, really healthy, low glycaemic meals and cutting out carbs from the evening meal can be helpful - It depends how much exercise you are doing and when you do it.
If you eat too little your body will go into starvation mode and burn less calories.
You also need your essential fats for the mitochondria to metabolise properly so take some omega 3 fish oil or flax. Hope this is helpful.
